At Clearway Clinic, we are committed to giving you the answers you need. Only you can make the final decision concerned the outcome of your pregnancy. However, in order to do so you need reliable information.
The first step is to discover if you are really pregnant. Clearway purchases the most reliable pregnancy tests on the market, which are run by a nurse. Sometimes women come to us before the results of a pregnancy test can be accurate. It is best to wait until one has missed a period before taking a test. Then, the directions specified by the test’s manufacturers must be followed exactly.
If the pregnancy test is positive, and the woman is at least five weeks and one day late for her period, then an ultrasound can be done to answer another vital question: how far along is the pregnancy? The ultrasound can also be used to indicate whether the pregnancy is viable (or will continue.) Statistics show that up to a quarter of all early pregnancies are lost to either miscarriage or some other mishap. If the pregnancy will not continue, a decision is no longer necessary.
A third factor that is vital, especially if abortion is being considered, is whether or not the woman has a sexually transmitted disease. Chlamydia and gonorrhea, in particular, can be dangerous if not treated, especially if a surgical procedure is done. Both of these often lurk outside of the cervix and can be carried into the uterus when an abortion is performed, greatly increasing the risk for pelvic inflammatory disease, which can lead to cancer. Clearway tests and treats for both conditions with positive test patients who are considering abortion.
As in all areas of life, information is power. Good decisions are based on reliable, factual information.
