Prenatal Vitamins

Prenatal Vitamins
Prenatal Vitamins are a daily multivitamin designed specifically to provide the added nutrients and minerals that a developing fetus needs, especially in the first few months, as well as replacing what the mother needs while the baby draws it out of her system. In fact, women who are planning to get pregnant are advised by the medical community to start prenatals even before they get pregnant.
No matter what you choose for pregnancy – parenting, abortion or adoption – you should still start taking prenatal vitamins as soon as you find out that you are pregnant. If you are choosing to parent or place for adoption prenatal vitamins will ensure a healthy start for the baby, aiding in preventing birth defects or developmental delays.
If you are considering abortion, a prenatal vitamin will be important for your own physical health and strength during either abortion method. The added vitamins and minerals will also aid in your own healing and recovery process after the procedure. In addition, if you change your mind later in the pregnancy and decide to parent, you and your baby have had the benefit of the same healthy start to life.

  • Do I need a prescription for prenatal vitamins? No! You can purchase them over the counter.
  • Where can I get prenatal vitamins? Any pharmacy like CVS, Walgreens or Rite Aid, grocery store or department store like Walmart or Target. They will be in the same section as all of the vitamin supplements, just be sure it says “prenatal” on the label.

  • How often should I take it? Generally, it’s one pill a day, but always read the labels on any supplements for specific directions as companies and doses may vary. Check with your doctor if you have any questions.
