  • Works by delaying or preventing the release of an egg from the ovary
  • Is NOT the same as the abortion pill (RU 486)
  • Is NOT meant to be used as a regular birth control method
  • Will NOT protect against sexually transmitted disease (STD)
  • If it has been more than 24 hours after unprotected intercourse it may not be effective
  • If conception has already taken place, Plan B will not work
  • If you have used Plan B multiple times, you should consult your gynecologist and talk about finding a better birth control method. Plan B is not meant to be taken regularly.
  • Abstinence is the only 100% effective method to prevent pregnancy and STDs
