Had an Abortion? Your Feelings Are Valid. Support Services Can Help.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Have you had an abortion? Whether it was yesterday or decades ago, the physical and emotional side effects from an abortion are real. It’s perfectly understandable to struggle with feelings of grief, isolation and regret after an abortion, and you are not alone.
If you are experiencing these intense feelings, talking through your circumstances could be beneficial for you. In fact, even if you think you’re doing ok, it’s helpful to have a safe space to discuss your experience no matter how you feel.
WHAT IS POST ABORTION STRESS?
Post abortion stress syndrome, or PASS, is a psychological condition that affects some women that have abortions. Although there is some controversy regarding the validity of PASS in clinical literature, even opponents of PASS affirm that there are negative psychological repercussions of abortion. You might feel alone and isolated in your experience, especially when there may be pressure to keep your feelings underwraps.
SYMPTOMS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS
If you’ve had an abortion, you may have experienced feelings of regret, guilt, and sadness after the procedure. Sometimes these feelings occur immediately afterwards, but you may also notice a delayed reaction. Both are normal. Guilt and regret can easily lead to depression and sometimes even suicidal thoughts. Because of this, seeking out support from a safe space like Clearway Clinic is vitally important.
Here are some emotional and social struggles often associated with abortion:

  • Anger
  • Guilt
  • Depression and suicidal thoughts
  • Eating disorders
  • Drug and/or alcohol abuse
  • Vivid flashbacks

If you or someone you know has experienced these struggles, you’re not alone, and we can help.
