Pre-Natal Classes & Education to Take Before Delivery

Pre-Natal Classes & Education to Take Before Delivery
It is important to read up on healthy guidelines for your pregnancy to keep both of you healthy and strong while you are carrying. It is also important to take advantage of classes before the baby arrives to know what to expect for labor and delivery and how to properly care for your baby. These are just as important as keeping yourself healthy during pregnancy. Most OB offices or hospitals will offer classes usually without a cost, you just have to ask. In addition, some early diagnosis pregnancy centers will also offer classes for free. Even if this isn’t your first baby, but it’s been a while since you’ve given birth, it’s never a bad idea to have a refresher course!
These are the class topics that you should look for:
Breastfeeding Class – an informational class on the benefits of breastfeeding for both you and your baby. Teaching on the “how to” of breastfeeding, benefits, techniques, latching and preventing soreness. Even if you are not sure whether or not you will breastfeed it is good information to help you make your decision. Also information should be included on engorgement, “let down,” transitioning to a bottle, and pumping and storing breast milk.
Newborn Care Class – topics include: bathing baby, swaddling, dressing baby, giving medication and when to know when to call your doctor.
Labor and Delivery Class – Information on all the stages of labor, what to expect and strategies on how to cope with each stage. Methods of labor and delivery and unexpected situations that might arise during the experience.
Clearway Clinic offers these classes for free as well as a second trimester class covering body changes, pre-term labor, laboratory tests, genetic screening and anesthesia. Call us today to schedule an education session.
