What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Whether you’re pregnant unexpectedly or know someone who is, taking the first step to look into your options is scary. Many women are not familiar with pregnancy resource centers, and if they are, they may have heard some concerning misinformation about them. So, what can you expect at your first appointment at Clearway Clinic? We exist to help educate clients with all of the options when faced with an unplanned pregnancy so you can leave feeling well informed. Here’s what you can expect at your first appointment.
PRIVATE AND COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT
If you think you may be pregnant or have had a positive test result, you can expect your appointment to last about an hour. The first thing we hope you notice is our commitment to providing a clean and comfortable environment for all of your clients. Every little detail matters to make you feel as safe as possible. If you’re planning on having a free ultrasound during your visit, make sure to drink at least two glasses of water before your appointment. A full bladder makes it easier to see the ultrasound images. Make sure to bring an up-to-date photo ID for identification purposes as well.
FULLY LICENSED MEDICAL STAFF
At Clearway Clinic, your free confidential consultation is administered by a fully licensed medical professional. Be assured that your consultation will be treated in the same manner as any other medical appointment – with respect, confidentiality, and knowledge. We understand that you might have a lot of questions – or maybe none at all – and we are here to help you. If you feel more comfortable bringing a friend or family member along, that’s perfectly fine! One of our medical staff members will ask you some questions about your medical history and then, if pregnancy is confirmed, an ultrasound can be performed at no cost to you.
KNOWLEDGEABLE AND NON-JUDGMENTAL RESOURCES
Transparency about our services is vitally important. We are not an abortion provider and we do not refer clients to abortion services. Clearway Clinic is not an obstetric practice. However, if you are considering abortion or have had one, you can expect to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity. We offer information about and resources for scenarios ranging from abortion alternatives, parenting programs, and post abortion counseling services. All of these decisions are difficult, and Clearway Clinic aims to be a place where you can safely and privately explore your options or figure out your next steps. It’s completely understandable to be nervous for your first appointment, but our hope is you’ll leave feeling comfortable, informed and supported.
